Warning: batteries not included

The reviews are coming in, and there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that they’re favorable. (My favorite reaction to Traffick Report was that it should include a disclaimer saying batteries not included.)

The frustrating news is that they’re not finding their way onto Amazon or Goodreads or wherever. One lone reader has posted a reaction to Traffick Report on Amazon, and only ten readers have posted Love. Local. Latebreaking. reviews.

Only since publishing these first two books has the marketing part of indie publishing come into any kind of focus. It’s daunting. Getting the word out to potential readers is enormously difficult.

Reviews on Amazon are an incredibly important part of the communication with potential readers. But it’s up to others to write and post reviews—honest ones, I hope.

Even two- and three-star reviews are important—for everyone. It’s important for writers to know what readers found lacking, and it’s important for readers to get a feel for how other readers respond to the books.

So, love ‘em, hate ‘em, anywhere in between: please post a review of Love. Local. Latebreaking. or Traffick Report on Amazon.
